Pakistan football continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons, with fresh reports highlighting the Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) ongoing financial struggles. According to sources, the federation has failed to pay its coaching staff, including head coach Nolberto Solano.
Solano, who took charge of the national team in July 2025, has reportedly not received his salary for the past four months. The delay has raised further concerns about the administrative disarray surrounding football affairs in the country.
The former Peruvian international and ex-Newcastle United midfielder has been fulfilling his duties diligently, yet remains unpaid since his appointment, according to reliable sources close to the matter. This development adds another layer of frustration to Pakistan’s already fragile football structure, which has long battled financial and governance challenges.
Despite the lack of pay, Nolberto Solano has led both the U23 side in the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers and the senior team in their 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualification matches against Afghanistan. While Pakistan failed to secure wins, the team has shown improved match awareness and tactical discipline under his guidance.
The PFF has yet to comment on the issue. In previous statements, however, the federation claimed its official bank accounts remain locked — a situation that has caused delays in salary disbursements.
For a football setup still striving for international recognition, such incidents risk further damaging Pakistan’s reputation. Coaches and players need stability — not uncertainty over their paychecks.
Nolberto Solano, who has expressed confidence in Pakistan’s footballing potential, now awaits decisive action from the PFF. The federation’s response will not only determine the future of one coach but also reflect whether Pakistan football is ready to overcome its long-standing administrative hurdles.
