Mohammad Rizwan has not signed the Pakistan Cricket Board central contract for 2025–26 and has asked the board for clarification after being moved from Category A to Category B, as per media reports.
The PCB announced central deals for 30 players running from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, placing players across Categories B, C and D and, unusually this cycle, leaving Category A empty.
Both Rizwan and Babar Azam held Category A contracts last season but were listed in Category B in the new structure, a move that has prompted questions from senior players.
Reports say Rizwan has withheld his signature while he seeks an explanation from the board over the change in status. Several other contracted players have already signed their deals.
The contract reshuffle follows a period of rapid change in Pakistan’s white ball setup, including a recent switch in ODI leadership that saw Shaheen Shah Afridi named ODI captain. The timing of the central contract overhaul and captaincy moves has added weight to the debate over the PCB’s selection and reward policies.
What happens next will depend on the board’s response to Rizwan’s query. If the PCB provides a formal explanation, the player may sign soon; if not, the issue could stretch into public disagreement between a senior international and the board. For now, Rizwan remains the only high-profile name reported not to have signed the new list.

Well done
Mohsin naqvi is just running the board as if its his personal inherited business with no accountability. First of all it must be asked what is his qualification.
Rizwan did the right thing, PCB Managment is committed to destroy Pak Cricket and Valueable players. so They are exactly on course. Soon Cricket will vanish from Pakistan same like Hockey (If they continue for another two to three years)
Naqvi was installed based on nepotism, he will help ruin cricket. why were other players in a hurry to sign, maybe they dont know to read.
