Sindh Launches Pakistan’s First Digital Portal for Govt Jobs

The Sindh government has launched the Sindh Job Portal (SJP), becoming the first province in Pakistan to introduce an online system for applying to government jobs.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah officially inaugurated the initiative. The SJP was developed jointly by the Science and Information Technology Department and Sukkur IBA University.

Speaking at the launch event, CM Sindh said the initiative aligns with Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s vision of employment for all, recalling her slogan: “Benazir Aaie Hae – Rozgar Laie Hae”.

He explained that candidates who fail the test can retake it multiple times, while the Sindh government will fully cover the cost of the first attempt.

CM Sindh shared that 326,000 candidates have already passed the recruitment tests, and going forward, tests will be held every month. “Results will be available immediately after the test,” he said.

According to Murad Ali Shah, once applicants upload their educational documents, CNIC, and domicile to the IBA-managed portal, a comprehensive database of qualified candidates will be created. “After passing the test, candidates can directly apply for government positions,” he added.

Highlighting the system’s connectivity, he said, “The portal bridges the Sindh government with the youth seeking jobs. We have linked both together through this platform.”

Each department will now upload its vacancy details on the portal, ensuring timely updates as new posts open. “For example, if the Education Department needs 100 junior clerks across Sindh, the Finance Department will instantly check funding availability,” Shah explained.

He noted that in the past, job announcements were often made before obtaining financial approval, which caused delays. “Now, everything will be managed online. The Finance Department will approve the positions first, and then all job details will be published,” he said.

Shah further stated that job listings will appear on the portal the same day the Information Department advertises them, making the entire process faster, fairer, and more transparent for Sindh’s youth.

Initially developed for Grade 5 to Grade 15 positions, the Sindh Job Portal now covers all grades. It is also connected to the Screening Test Initiative, a joint program with Sukkur IBA University for recruitment exams between BPS-5 and BPS-15.

Key features of the platform include AI-based job matching, voice-enabled job searches in Urdu and English, and multilingual support in Urdu, Sindhi, and English. The system also prevents duplicate employment and is integrated with the Health Department and Sindh Police Special Branch for real-time verification of medical and character records. Candidates receive updates via SMS, email, and portal notifications.

Applicants can sign up using their CNIC and mobile number, verify through a one-time password, and access their information through the STS portal.
