The Punjab government has announced a public holiday for all subordinate courts across the province on November 1, 2025.
According to the official notification, the decision was made due to the Punjab Bar Council elections, which will be held on the same day.
Thousands of lawyers from various districts across Punjab are expected to cast their votes in these elections, exercising their right to choose representatives for the provincial bar council.
The suspension of court proceedings aims to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process and allow members of the legal community to fully participate in the voting.
In other news, Punjab has declared a local holiday in Narowal district on Saturday, November 1, to mark the annual Urs of Hazrat Pir Syed Jamaat Ali Shah Lasani at Alipur Syedan Sharif.
The notification, issued by Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza, gives residents two consecutive holidays with Sunday following. Thousands of devotees from across the country are expected to attend the Urs celebrations.
The district administration has completed preparations, including crowd management, accommodation, and security arrangements. Police, Rescue 1122, and health teams will remain on duty, while facilities for food, water, medical aid, and rest have been set up for pilgrims.
