The District Education Authority (DEA) Nankana Sahib has announced a three-day closure of all government and private schools in the city in connection with the upcoming 556th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

According to an official notification issued by Chief Executive Officer (DEA) Nankana Sahib on November 1, 2025, the holidays will be observed from November 4 to November 6, 2025.

The order applies to 24 government schools and all private institutions within Nankana City. Among those listed are Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, MC Girls High School, Girls High School (Fatima Jinnah), and several primary schools located in Canada Colony, Purani Abadi, Shaheed Kot, and other localities.

In addition, the notification includes Baba Guru Nanak University, which will suspend classes from November 3 to November 6, as part of precautionary measures to facilitate visitors and maintain public order during the celebrations.

District Education Officer and monitoring teams have been directed to ensure compliance with the notification across all educational institutions.

Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from around the world, including over 2,100 devotees from India, who were recently issued visas by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, are expected to attend the birth anniversary celebrations in Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of the founder of Sikhism.

The district administration has finalized security and logistical arrangements to accommodate the large number of visitors expected to participate in the annual religious events.
