Government Warns of New Passport Application Scam

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has issued a public disclaimer warning citizens about a scam involving the misuse of the Google Maps location of the Regional Passport Office in Islamabad’s G-10 sector.

According to the DGIP, a scammer has falsely listed personal contact details, including a phone number and email address, on Google Maps and has been demanding payments through JazzCash and bank accounts without official authorization.

The authority clarified that no individual is permitted to collect payments on behalf of the passport office through personal channels. Officials have urged citizens to remain cautious and avoid sharing personal information or making any payments to unauthorized persons.

“Beware: Do not share your personal information or make any payments to such individuals,” the DGIP stated in its advisory. For official queries or assistance, citizens have been advised to contact the DGIP Helpline at 051-111-344-777.

The department thanked the public for their cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens from fraudulent activities.  For verified information, the DGIP encouraged citizens to visit its official website www.dgip.gov.pk or follow @dgipofficial on social media.
