Opening Date Announced for Islamabad’s Shaheen Chowk Underpass

The Shaheen Chowk Underpass project in Islamabad has entered its final construction phase, with authorities setting a completion deadline of one month. The underpass, once operational, will play a key role in easing traffic congestion and improving road safety in the capital.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the site on Friday to review construction progress. He praised the project’s pace and emphasized the need to maintain 24/7 construction activity to ensure completion within the set timeframe.

“The early conclusion of this project is crucial to ease public difficulties, particularly during peak hours,” Naqvi stated, underscoring that quality and efficiency must remain top priorities.

The minister highlighted that the underpass would be a modern addition to Islamabad’s infrastructure, helping smooth traffic flow across one of the city’s busiest intersections.

During the visit, the CDA Member Engineering briefed Naqvi on progress and construction timelines, assuring that all resources are being utilized to meet the deadline.

Naqvi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving urban traffic challenges, saying that “relieving citizens from traffic problems is our top priority.”
