Realme C85 Series Launched With the Pro Model Somehow Cheaper Than Vanilla

Realme has officially launched its new C85 series, introducing two models, the C85 Pro and the C85 5G. Both smartphones are designed to offer extended battery life, smooth display, and updated software, while staying within the budget category.

For some odd reason, the Pro model is somehow cheaper than the vanilla variant. Here are the details:

Design and Display

The Realme C85 Pro and C85 5G feature large 6.8-inch screens but use different display technologies. The Pro model is equipped with an AMOLED panel that supports a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2344 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness reaching 4,000 nits. In contrast, the C85 5G uses an LCD with HD+ resolution and a faster 144Hz refresh rate.

Both devices are built with durability in mind and come with IP69-rated water resistance. The C85 Pro measures 8.09mm in thickness and weighs 205 grams, while the 5G version is slightly thicker at 8.38mm and heavier at 215 grams. Buyers can choose between two color options: Parrot Purple and Peacock Green.

Internals and Software

Under the hood, the Realme C85 Pro runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor and supports 4G LTE networks. The C85 5G, on the other hand, is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 chip, bringing 5G connectivity to the series. Both phones include 8GB of RAM, which can be expanded up to 24GB using virtual memory, and offer up to 256GB of internal storage, with microSD support for additional capacity.

Realme ships both devices with Android 15, layered with Realme UI 6.0. The updated software aims to provide a more refined user experience and is expected to support future updates.

Cameras

The C85 Pro and C85 5G share the same camera configuration. On the back, each features a 50-megapixel primary sensor for everyday photography. The front camera is an 8-megapixel unit designed for video calls and selfies. Realme has kept the camera setup simple, focusing on essential photo features.

Battery and Pricing

A major focus for both models is battery capacity. Each phone comes with a 7,000 mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging, designed to reduce downtime and extend usage between charges.

In terms of pricing, the Realme C85 Pro starts at approximately $245 for the 8GB + 128GB variant. The higher 256GB storage version is priced at about $270. The Realme C85 5G, available only in the 8GB + 256GB configuration, retails for around $290.
