The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has accelerated the installation of Safe City surveillance cameras in Rawalpindi, marking another milestone in its province-wide effort to strengthen traffic management, road safety, and crime prevention.
Under the Safe City project, the PSCA has already deployed high-resolution cameras in several cities across Punjab to monitor vehicle and motorcycle movement, detect violations, and issue automated e-challans. The initiative aims to ensure smoother traffic flow, promote compliance with traffic laws, and enhance public safety through real-time monitoring.
In Rawalpindi, the installation phase has reached completion, with cameras now active at major locations including COD Chowk, Fauji Foundation, Liaquat Bagh, Raja Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Commercial Market, Ali Chowhan Chowk, Ayub Park, Jinnah Park, Chaklala Railway Station, Gulzar-e-Quaid, Faizabad Metro Station, Pirwadhai Mandi Stop, Saddar Bank Road, Qasim Market, Bakra Mandi Chowk, Kachehri Chowk, Rawal Road, Committee Chowk, Tench Bhatta, and Chakri Road.
The e-challan system has officially begun operations in the city following its success in Lahore and other urban centers. A dedicated PSCA headquarters has been established opposite Jinnah Park to manage digital surveillance and process all challans.
Officials said the Safe City system will not only improve traffic discipline but also enable law enforcement to respond swiftly to crimes, accidents, and emergencies. The PSCA has urged citizens to follow traffic regulations, emphasizing that public cooperation is essential for making Rawalpindi a safer and smarter city.

PSCA surveillance cameras will not only improve traffic discipline a lot but will also help in improving security issues like vehicles theft, decoity, begging and Street crimes. Although belated but It’s good initiative must continue not only in big cities but also across Pakistan.
E- Chalan should not be the priority logically, ethically or wisely
rather top most priority should be on control to trace the snatchers, dacoits and fugitives if one has achieved 100% success in implementation of priority no 1 then should move towards 2nd priority that are Vehicles, here again the picture shown here highlights poor motorcyclists and private cars not showing ghunda style Shahzoor trucks, Vans and big vehicles not taking any benefits on the mights.
Minting money from public should not be the aim of any Govt. servant of any grade
Where are safe city videos and footages gone for 9 May false flag incident, killing of civilians at D-Chowk and Muridke, attack on Islamabad High Court for abducting Imran Khan and other auch incidents conducted by and at the behest of leadership of Pakistani Military?
How many Army vehicles have been fined by Safe City in occupied/captured territory in cities (cantt areas)?
Dear, Tax Payer(probably one of the 99% non filers) we can understand the rage inside of you but the arguments you propose are completely bull shit as the 9th May incident footages are still present and they were used as evidence to imprison the traitors who attacked our armed forces.
Moreover, there is a separate police that deals with army vehicles related issue know as Military police.I can make sure that they take their duty very seriously and fine anyone who breaks law.
And also army cantonment is not an occupied area it was issued to the army by the governments and this includes Imran khans government.
Create better U-turns and manage Parking issues first by creating infrastructure rather than doing challan
It is good to penalise & issue chalan to violaters of traffic laws. But this will create unnecessary agitation within public too.
It is important to coach & provide training to public before such steps.
Through effective Media campaign such punishment is acceptable.
Issue the list of violation via media & please do not tolerate traffic laws violation on Driving wrong side of the street or road.
Like Sindh the fines amount should be increased to create a deterrence.
Govt need to place warning signs to educate the public about cameras, so that they don’t get panic after sudden receipts of E-Challans.
Must cover whole Pakis to an Urgently to geneate funds and control traffic abuse prevailing at present and also to save present large number of accidents.
It is good step of government of Punjab.
Malik Waqas we can’t blame everything on the government the fines that are being charged are shown pictures too.so, if anyone thinks that the fine was unjustified then they can complain it back to the traffic police and their charges can be dropped if they were right.
