Pakistan Invites Saudi Arabia to Invest in 3 Motorway Projects

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has invited Saudi Arabia to invest in Pakistan’s major motorway and infrastructure projects, highlighting vast opportunities in the country’s growing transport and logistics network.

The invitation came during a meeting with the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Aljasser, on the sidelines of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) in Karachi.

Aleem Khan emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Saudi Arabia in transport, logistics, and infrastructure development. He noted that the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) between the two countries has strengthened bilateral ties and created a broader framework for collaboration.

He pointed out that Pakistan’s road infrastructure is vibrant and self-sustaining, supported by an effective toll system. The Ministry of Communications and the National Highway Authority (NHA) are focusing on new motorway projects to connect northern regions with major urban and economic centers, further boosting regional trade and connectivity.

Aleem Khan specifically invited Saudi investment in key projects, including:

  • M-6 Motorway (Sukkur–Hyderabad)
  • M-10 Motorway (Hyderabad–Karachi Port)
  • M-13 Motorway (Kharian–Rawalpindi)
  • Mansehra–Naran–Jalkhad–Chilas (MNJC) Road

He highlighted the MNJC project’s commercial viability due to its tourism potential, making it an attractive opportunity for investors.

The Saudi minister, in turn, sought Pakistan’s support in the upcoming International Maritime Organization (IMO) elections, which Pakistan assured. He also praised Pakistan’s development initiatives and offered Saudi assistance in technology, road safety, and logistics.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in infrastructure and related sectors.
