The Deputy Commissioner of Layyah, Ameera Baidar, has officially declared Saturday, November 8, 2025, a local public holiday across the district to mark the 10th Thal Mela celebrations.
According to the official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the holiday has been granted under the powers vested by the Government of Punjab to allow residents to participate in the annual cultural festivities. The administration has also announced free transportation facilities for visitors traveling to attend the events.
The Thal Mela coincides with the 10th Thal Jeep Rally, jointly organized by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) and the district administrations of Layyah and Muzaffargarh.
In a separate development, the Muzzaffargarh district administration announced a similar public holiday for the same date to facilitate attendance at the joint Thal Jeep Rally and local fair. The four-day desert event, organized by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) in collaboration with local authorities, began on Thursday after the completion of all preparations.
