Fake FIA Officers Reportedly Rob Citizen in Islamabad

A shocking robbery took place in Islamabad’s Tarnol area where eight men, dressed in uniforms resembling those of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), allegedly looted a citizen of Rs. 200,000.

According to police reports, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Tarnol Police Station. Eight unidentified men stopped a local resident, claiming to be FIA officers, assaulted him, and forced him to withdraw cash from an ATM before escaping.

The victim, identified as Muhammad Asif, a building contractor, told police he was returning home from Dhoke Paracha when two vehicles blocked his car. The men introduced themselves as government officials, asked for his identification, and then forced him into one of their vehicles.

Asif said the suspects, aged between 30 and 35, were driving a Toyota Corolla and a Suzuki Alto. They allegedly beat him, threatened to kill him, and later took him to a UBL ATM in Tarnol, where he was compelled to withdraw Rs. 200,000. The robbers fled the scene soon after.

Despite lodging a complaint, Asif claimed no significant progress had been made in the investigation even after three days.

Police confirmed that CCTV footage from the area and the ATM is being examined to help identify the culprits. Authorities are also investigating whether the suspects were actual government employees or members of a criminal gang disguising themselves as FIA officers to deceive citizens.
