Police reportedly arrested more than 50 people, including social media personality Susan Khan, during a raid on a Halloween party at a boutique hotel in Lahore’s upscale Gulberg area.
Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Afzal sent over 40 of the detainees to jail on Wednesday after police presented them in court, seeking judicial custody. The remaining individuals await further proceedings.
Authorities said the operation followed a tip-off regarding illegal activities at the venue. During the raid, officers seized narcotics, alcohol, shisha setups, and contraband cigarettes, all of which have been sent for forensic examination.
Gulberg Police Station registered a case against the event organiser and attendees under relevant laws related to banned substances. Police sources indicated that some of the detainees belong to influential families.
Law enforcement officials reported that attempts were made overnight to pressure authorities for the release of several detainees, but the police did not grant any exceptions.
