Full LA28 Olympics Schedule Announced

The stage is officially set for one of the most ambitious Olympic Games in history. Organizers of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics (LA28) have released the full competition schedule, promising two weeks of high-intensity sport, record participation, and a fresh, modern approach to the world’s biggest sporting spectacle.

From the opening ceremony on July 14 to the grand finale on July 30, LA28 will feature 11,200 athletes across 51 sports and 49 venues, making it the largest Games ever staged.

What truly stands out is the focus on gender equality. For the first time, every team sport will have equal or more women’s teams than men’s, pushing female participation to 50.5% of total athletes.

In a rare shake-up, LA28 will reverse the traditional Olympic schedule by hosting athletics in the first week and swimming in the second. The move allows top swimmers to march in the opening ceremony without worrying about early races the next morning — a luxury they have rarely enjoyed before.

For cricket fans, LA28 brings back a long-awaited chapter in Olympic history. The sport returns to the Games after more than a century, adding a special flavour for South Asian fans around the world — especially in Pakistan, where Olympic cricket is expected to capture hearts and headlines instantly.

The women’s cricket final will take place on July 20, while the men’s final is scheduled for July 29, part of the festival-like “Super Saturday.”

The penultimate day of the Games, July 29, has been dubbed “Super Saturday” — and for good reason. A staggering 26 finals across 23 sports will unfold on the same day, including athletics, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, cricket, football, swimming, and tennis. It is set to be one of the most thrilling single days in Olympic history.

Marathons will headline the closing weekend, with the women’s marathon on July 29 and the men’s marathon wrapping things up on July 30, just before the closing ceremony.

The LA28 Olympics schedule will also see introduction of flag football and squash to the Olympic lineup, while baseball and softball make a welcome return. The baseball medal games will be held on July 19 at Dodger Stadium, one of Los Angeles’ most iconic venues.

With 14 million tickets expected to go on sale and registration opening in January 2028, LA28 promises not just competition but a cultural celebration that redefines the Olympic experience.
