Huawei is preparing to launch the Mate 80 series in China soon, and new leaks continue to build a clearer picture of what to expect. Earlier reports suggested a redesigned rear camera module, and a new rumor now focuses on the camera system of the Mate 80 Pro+.
A post shared by tipster DCS on Weibo claims the Mate 80 Pro+ will use two 50MP periscope cameras. One of these lenses is expected to handle medium-range zoom, while the other will offer a longer focal length for extended reach. The leak also points to a 50MP main camera built on a large 1/1.28-inch sensor that uses LOFIC technology. As with any early leak, these details should be viewed with caution until Huawei confirms them.
Recent reports add that the Mate 80 Pro+ may feature a 6.88-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a dual-layer “tandem” structure that could improve brightness and efficiency. The panel is said to adopt a micro quad-curve design, with gentle curves on all sides.
The front is expected to house a triple-hole layout for the selfie camera and 3D ToF sensor, while the rear is likely to continue Huawei’s circular camera design with some updated styling.
The Mate 80 series is rumored to run on a new Kirin chipset, possibly the Kirin 9030 or a related model, reportedly built on a more advanced manufacturing process. Battery capacity may exceed 6,000 mAh, with support for 100W fast wired charging and 80W wireless charging. One version of the series is also said to include an active cooling fan.
Some leaks suggest the phone may offer both eSIM and nano-SIM support in certain variants. Reports also mention multiple color options for the series, though the exact shades for the Pro+ model are still unclear.
Huawei is expected to unveil the Mate 80 lineup in November, with the possibility of an early December rollout depending on scheduling. More official details are likely to appear as the announcement approaches.
