A Sikh woman from India, who arrived in Pakistan as part of a religious group attending the birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak, has embraced Islam and married a Pakistani citizen.
The woman, previously known as Sarbjeet Kaur, adopted the Islamic name Noor after converting. According to the marriage certificate, the 48-year-old tied the knot with Nasir Hussain, a resident of Farooqabad in Sheikhupura district, on November 5.
The document states that the agreed haq mehr was Rs. 10,000, which has already been paid.
Sarbjeet Kaur had entered Pakistan on November 4 along with a group of Indian pilgrims. However, when the pilgrims returned to India on November 13, she was not among them, and her visa expired the same day. This led authorities to initially declare her missing.
Later, it was discovered that she had converted to Islam and solemnized her marriage with the Pakistani man.
