Punjab’s eco-friendly public transport program has achieved another major milestone. According to the spokesperson, the government has completed preparations to launch public transport in 10 additional cities. A fleet of 200 electric buses has already reached these cities.
Chief Minister Punjab will inaugurate the electric bus service on November 19.
The new routes will become operational in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujar Khan, Toba Tek Singh, and Jhang. Electric buses will also begin service in Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Bahawalpur.
The transport minister said the Punjab government has already made electric buses operational in Lahore and 10 other cities, where nearly 120,000 passengers travel daily.
The spokesperson added that the initiative aims to protect the environment and improve urban mobility. The government also plans to expand public transport services to more cities in the coming phase.
