The new routes will become operational in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujar Khan, Toba Tek Singh, and Jhang. Electric buses will also begin service in Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Bahawalpur.
The transport minister said the Punjab government has already made electric buses operational in Lahore and 10 other cities, where nearly 120,000 passengers travel daily.
The spokesperson added that the initiative aims to protect the environment and improve urban mobility. The government also plans to expand public transport services to more cities in the coming phase.
