Islamabad has officially begun enforcing mandatory M-Tag installation for all vehicles entering the federal capital, causing long queues on the first day of implementation.
The requirement now applies to every vehicle entering the city, while motorcycles remain under review for possible inclusion. The district administration has set up seven service points across Islamabad to manage the rush.
Officials are processing tags from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at these locations, while the Excise Office offers tagging services after 3 p.m. Authorities confirmed that vehicles already equipped with an M-Tag do not need a new E-Tag.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon emphasized that the administration aims to enhance security and provide convenience to residents. He said the city has activated the tagging system to monitor incoming traffic more effectively and keep unauthorized vehicles out of the capital.
The district administration has set the current price of an M-Tag at Rs. 250, while officials may increase the fee by Rs. 50. The Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to complete the tagging process promptly, warning that vehicles without an M-Tag will not be permitted to enter Islamabad.

If you have MTag on motorway toll plaza you pay X amount, if you don’t, you have to pay additional 25% jagga tax. OneNetwork wants you to deposit huge sum in your Mtag, this will help both parties, you will avoid penalty and they will invest your money in bank and get profits 😉. A win win situation.

What about terrorists entering the city easily in an M-tagged vehicle, being allowed entry, without manual police check? Is it not terrorizing the faithful citizen and facilitating outlawed?
Mtag would definitely make identifying process quicker
There should be separate lanes at entrance of İslamabad at 26chungi check post for m-tag vehicles to avoid bottle neck and long queues.
