Comet AI Browser Lands on Android with Voice Mode Support

Perplexity has launched its AI-focused browser, Comet, on Android. The new app is available to download now and brings many of the same features introduced on the desktop version, including the ability to use Perplexity’s built-in AI assistant while browsing.

Comet became one of the first major mobile browsers built around AI tools. ChatGPT Atlas remains limited to macOS, while Google added Gemini to Chrome on both desktop and mobile, but Gemini functions more like an extension than a complete AI browsing experience. Perplexity first released Comet on desktop for Perplexity Max subscribers in July before expanding access last month.

Voice Mode and AI Assistance

The Android version of Comet supports voice mode, letting users speak naturally to the browser while viewing websites. The AI can summarize information from open tabs or answer questions about what users are reading.

The app currently does not offer cross-platform syncing for browsing history or bookmarks. Perplexity spokesperson Beejoli Shah told The Verge that syncing features are on the company’s roadmap and should roll out in the coming weeks.

More Features Coming Soon

Perplexity is also working on full support for other Comet tools, including a more advanced agentic voice mode and a built-in password manager. Until then, users can rely on Android’s existing password manager within the app.
