Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday ordered to upgrade Pakistan’s industrial policy and to integrate private-sector recommendations into the national framework after a detailed implementation review.
The prime minister said industrial development was essential for economic growth, job creation and higher incomes. He stressed that improving the business environment and accelerating investment remained the government’s top priorities.
The meeting reviewed policy proposals aimed at modernising Pakistan’s industrial base, increasing investment, and improving competitiveness relative to regional economies. The Working Group, led by industrialist Saqib Shirazi, presented the recommendations to the premier.
The prime minister praised the private sector’s support during difficult economic conditions and said it had helped Pakistan avert a crisis. He said the economic indicators were improving, but warned that sustained effort was required to maintain momentum.
Shehbaz also directed the preparation of an action plan after evaluating the proposals and ordered that the recommendations be incorporated into all economic policy reforms.
