Deadline Announced for Water Filtration Plants to Implement New Rules

The Punjab Food Authority has given operators of Reverse Osmosis water filtration plants until December 15 to implement newly issued Standard Operating Procedures. Notices went out after a PFA-organized awareness session that reviewed the updated rules.

PFA trainers and the deputy director of operations briefed plant operators on the SOPs. The guidelines cover hygiene standards, labeling rules, installation steps for new plants, cleaning procedures for plants and water tanks, and filter-replacement protocols.

The SOPs require monthly uploads of filter-replacement details and laboratory reports to the FBO Portal and call for proper maintenance records. PFA Director General Asim Javed ordered the capacity-building effort that preceded the deadline.

The authority warned that failure to meet the December 15 deadline will trigger legal action under relevant food-safety regulations. Plant owners have until then to demonstrate full compliance with the new procedures.
