UAE travellers will soon experience some of the world’s fastest in-flight internet as Emirates and flydubai roll out free Starlink Wi-Fi across their fleets starting late 2025.
Emirates will begin offering complimentary, ultra-fast Starlink connectivity on select Boeing 777 aircraft from November 2025, expanding it fleet-wide by mid-2027. Installations on the Airbus A380 will start in early 2026.
flydubai is set to follow in 2026, equipping its entire Boeing 737 fleet with the same high-speed satellite system.
The upgrade marks a major shift in regional inflight connectivity, enabling passengers to stream movies, make video calls, work remotely, browse social media, and even game—all without interruptions.
Both carriers confirmed the service will be completely free, with no payment or loyalty membership required and one-click access for all cabin classes.
What Starlink Means for UAE Travellers
The next-generation satellite network delivers ground-like internet speed at cruising altitude, allowing travellers to stay productive and entertained throughout their journeys.
Business passengers can join video meetings, send large files, and work online seamlessly, while leisure travellers can stream content or enjoy online gaming with minimal delay.
The technology relies on thousands of low-Earth-orbit satellites positioned just 550 km above the planet, far closer than traditional satellites, resulting in dramatically reduced latency.
Passengers can expect download speeds of 100–250 Mbps, upload speeds of 10–25 Mbps, and latency as low as 25–44 milliseconds. This enables lag-free gaming, high-quality video calling, and instant page loading.
Regional Airlines Embrace Next-Gen Connectivity
Emirates and flydubai join a growing group of global carriers upgrading to Starlink, including Qatar Airways, signalling a regional shift toward next-generation in-flight internet.
Early users report that performance exceeds that of some home broadband connections.
