Honor 500 and 500 Pro Launch With Some of the Biggest Smartphone Batteries Ever

Honor has introduced the Honor 500 and Honor 500 Pro in China, bringing a refreshed design and more powerful hardware compared to the previous Honor 400 series.

Not only are these phones more powerful than before, but they also feature some of the biggest smartphone batteries to date at a very impressive 8,000 mAh. On paper, these two could easily be 2-day phones.

Design and Display

Honor has redesigned both phones with a look that closely resembles the iPhone Air, most notably through the raised camera visor on the back. The Honor 500 weighs 198 grams, while the Honor 500 Pro is slightly heavier at 201 grams. Both models measure 7.8mm in thickness and use aluminum frames paired with glass backs. Honor also maintains strong durability ratings with full IP68 and IP69K water and dust resistance, an upgrade over the Honor 400 series.

The display setup is identical on both devices. Each model features a 6.55-inch LTPO OLED screen with a resolution of 1,264 × 2,736. The panels support a 120Hz refresh rate and reach up to 6,000 nits of peak brightness. An in-display fingerprint scanner is also available.

The Honor 500 and 500 Pro come in Aquamarine, Starlight Powder (pink), Moonlight Silver, and Obsidian Black.

Internals and Software

The Honor 500 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and comes in variants offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The standard Honor 500 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. Both models run MagicOS 10 based on Android 16.

Cameras

Honor equips the two devices with a 200MP main camera that uses a 1/1.4-inch sensor, supported by a 12MP ultrawide lens. The Honor 500 Pro adds a 50MP telephoto camera capable of 3× optical zoom, while the standard Honor 500 does not include this additional lens.

Battery and Pricing

Both phones include ginormous 8,000mAh silicon-carbon batteries. Each device supports 80W wired charging and 27W reverse wired charging, while the Honor 500 Pro also offers 50W wireless charging.

Pricing for the Honor 500 begins at $380 for the 12GB + 256GB option, $422 for the 12GB + 512GB model, and $646 for the 16GB + 512GB configuration. Pricing for the Honor 500 Pro starts at $506 for the 12GB + 256GB version, $549 for the 12GB + 512GB variant, $590 for the 16GB + 512GB option, and $675 for the 16GB + 1TB model.

Note that these are Chinese prices and international variants will likely cost more.
