OnePlus Ace 6T/15R Becomes the First Phone to Launch With Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

OnePlus has introduced the Ace 6T in China, expanding its mid-range Ace series. This model will later be released in international markets under a different name, the OnePlus 15R.

The Ace 6T is the first ever phone to come with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which is a high-end chip only a tier below the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Design and Display

The OnePlus Ace 6T features a 6.7-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The screen also includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for quicker and more reliable unlocking.

The phone is available in black, green, and purple finishes. OnePlus is using micro-arc oxidation for the metal frame, while the black and green variants have a silky glass back. The purple version uses a fiberglass rear panel.

Internals and Software

The Ace 6T becomes the first smartphone to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Information about the processor remains limited, and it is still unclear how it compares to the earlier Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The device also includes vapor-chamber cooling and carries IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for enhanced durability. It ships with ColorOS 16 in China.

Cameras

On the rear, the phone features a dual-camera setup comprising a 50MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The front-facing camera is 32MP, positioned inside a hole-punch cutout.

Battery and Pricing

OnePlus has equipped the Ace 6T with an 8,000 mAh battery supported by 100W fast charging. Pricing is yet to be announced, but we can expect it to be cheaper than the OnePlus 15 given its lower-tier specifications.

Although the device is confirmed for China at launch, it will later arrive internationally as the OnePlus 15R. The global version will keep the black and green color options but will not include the purple variant. Any further regional adjustments are yet to be detailed.
