At a time when the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is gearing up for its biggest commercial expansion yet, two of its most recognisable franchises — Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi — have officially committed to another decade, providing a major boost to the league’s continuity, stability, and brand identity.
Both Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi finalized renewal agreements with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), ensuring their ownership groups will continue to steer the teams through the PSL’s next 10-year cycle. With expansion teams on the horizon and franchise valuations soaring, these renewals underline the growing business confidence in the league.
Quetta Gladiators became the second team to secure their future with the PCB after agreeing to the newly assessed market valuation. The move means the franchise will remain under the stewardship of Nadeem Omar, one of Pakistani cricket’s most respected figures, for another decade.
The Gladiators have long been celebrated for their loyal fanbase and their commitment to cricketing pathways. The PCB, in its statement, called the renewal “a continuation of a relationship built on passion and long-term investment,” noting the franchise’s crucial role in giving emerging cricketers national exposure.
Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi also renewed their contract on the same day, with owner Javed Afridi once again leading from the front. Zalmi, one of the PSL’s most successful commercial brands, agreed to the valuation-based renewal put forward by EY MENA.
Javed Afridi called the extension “a commitment to build bigger and aim higher,” reaffirming Zalmi’s ambition to remain at the forefront of the league’s global image. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also praised Zalmi’s impact, crediting the franchise for fostering fan engagement, talent development, and consistent brand building since 2016.
With Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi joining Lahore Qalandars in renewing their deals with the PSL, attention now turns to Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United’s ownership groups, who must decide whether to continue or place their teams up for auction ahead of PSL 11.
These renewals come as the PCB readies two new PSL teams for next season, with valuations completed and bidding rounds expected soon. With the league expanding and commercial numbers rising sharply, renewing franchises have secured long-term stability at an important turning point.
For fans, it means two pillars of the PSL — Zalmi’s massive fan culture and Quetta’s gritty, region-driven identity — will remain untouched.
The next 10 years of the league just got a lot more exciting.
