Sindh Hosts Pakistan’s First Million-Rupee Esports Championship

Pakistan has taken a major step forward in competitive gaming with the launch of the Sindh Esports Championship 2025, the country’s first esports tournament advertised with a million-rupee prize pool.

The initiative was led by the District Sports Officer South in partnership with Vidermedia, marking an official push to support the nation’s fast-growing gaming community.

The event featured a total prize pool of Rs. 1.5 million, drawing significant interest from across the country. It centered on two of the world’s most popular tactical shooters: Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) and Valorant. Participants were allowed to register for only one title, and the competition was open to all players based in Pakistan.

The format included online qualifiers held from November 7 to 12, after registrations closed on November 5. Top-performing teams advanced to an in-person LAN Grand Finals on November 22 in Karachi.

The response surpassed expectations, with over 400 teams and 2,500+ players entering the championship. In the Grand Finals, Team Legion emerged victorious against Wah Wah, with both finalists receiving Rs. 500,000 each, awarded by the provincial sports minister.

To streamline match coordination, all participants were required to join the tournament’s official Discord server. CS2 matches were played via FACEIT Middle East servers, while Valorant competitors connected to Bahrain servers for optimal latency. Finalists traveling to Karachi for the LAN event were provided with accommodation and travel support.

A limited number of fans were able to register for seats to view the live finals in Karachi, while others followed the action online via real-time brackets on Challonge.

During the awards ceremony, the sports minister confirmed plans to increase the prize pool for future events.
