Karachi Kings Confirm 10-Year PSL Extension With Existing Owners

Karachi Kings, one of the most followed, commercially powerful, and culturally embedded teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), will continue under the leadership of Salman Iqbal for another ten years after formally renewing their franchise rights on Tuesday.

The Kings are the fourth franchise to sign the renewal at the updated market valuation assessed by global audit giant Ernst & Young, which reinforces the growing confidence investors continue to place in the PSL’s financial strength.

With the league set to expand to eight teams from season 11, Karachi’s long-term commitment arrives at a defining moment for Pakistan’s biggest cricket product.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi lauded the development, crediting the franchise for consistently elevating the PSL’s profile.

“Karachi Kings remaining with their current owners for the next decade is excellent news for the league,” Naqvi said. “Salman Iqbal and his team have played a key role in strengthening the PSL’s standing. Their renewed commitment highlights the league’s growing value and lasting appeal.”

PSL CEO Salman Naseer echoed the sentiment, praising the Kings for their continued investment, ambitious vision, and strong fan engagement.

Although the exact figures behind the renewals of any team are yet to be released, the general consensus is that updated annual fees include the old rate plus a 25% increment based on the new valuations carried out this year. Karachi Kings’ PSL deal also means that Islamabad United and Multan Sultans are the only ownership groups left to confirm their plans from PSL 11 onwards.

The Kings, crowned PSL champions in 2020, remain one of the league’s most influential teams both commercially and culturally. Their renewal ensures stability at a time when the PSL is preparing for major structural expansion and confirms that one of the tournament’s flagship brands is committed for the long haul.
