Another Rs. 3.45 Billion Flyover Announced for Rawalpindi

Work on Rawalpindi’s Rs. 35.28 billion infrastructure overhaul has accelerated, with major flyovers and underpasses moving toward completion under Punjab government funding.

The project spans both city and cantonment areas and includes four flyovers and eight underpasses. Officials have now approved an additional flyover at Ammar Shaheed Chowk, following a surge in traffic at the interchange.

The new structure is estimated to cost Rs. 3.45 billion, and construction will begin next year once the case receives final clearance.

So far, authorities have completed one flyover and two underpasses, while work continues on two flyovers and three underpasses. Construction on three more underpasses will begin on December 20.

The Nawaz Sharif Flyover at Khawaja Corporation Chowk, built for Rs. 4.4 billion, is already open to traffic, and Adiala Road remains under redesign and expansion. The GPO Chowk and TMA Chowk underpasses, completed at a cost of Rs. 5.7349 billion, are also operational.

At Kachehry Chowk, work on a flyover and underpass launched on November 3 for Rs. 5.974249 billion is expected to finish by April 30, 2026. The linked Jinnah Park flyover and underpass, costing Rs. 4.672245 billion, are scheduled for completion by March 30, 2026.

Another major ongoing project is the underpass and road expansion on Iftikhar Janjua Road, worth Rs. 2.688073 billion, which is expected to finish by January 30, 2026.

  • I think it’s very attractive & Suitable project for Public of Rawalpindi. Traffic free RAWALPINDI is very jorgeous.

  • Punjab Govt should focus on rebuilding internal city road infrastructure besides flyovers. Road are in pathetic conditions in Rwp Cantt and Westridge areas. Parking laws should be strictly adhered to in busy bazars of Westridge areas

  • Recent increase in traffic flow on major Westridge and Cantt areas demand an urgent repair of road conditions as previously no govt has taken care of roads improvement.

  • Please need one small but very very important railway crossing under pass Located at Westridge III cant Rawalpindi
