Land-Grabbing Cases in Punjab Will Now Be Resolved in Days

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a major public-focused initiative to tackle a longstanding issue that has troubled citizens for decades: illegal occupation of land and property.

Maryam Nawaz assured residents that anyone facing unlawful possession of their land can submit an application to their district’s Deputy Commissioner, and the case will be decided within days.

In posts shared on X and Facebook, the Chief Minister reiterated that all encroached properties will be retrieved and complaints will be processed swiftly. She instructed authorities to give top priority to cases involving widows whose properties have been seized.

Maryam Nawaz also directed Assistant Commissioners in every tehsil to accept land-grabbing complaints and expressed dissatisfaction over delays in decisions from districts, including Gujrat, Layyah, and Hafizabad.

She further ordered all Deputy Commissioners to hold daily review meetings to monitor progress on these cases.

Officials revealed that in the last three weeks, 2,919 complaints related to illegal occupation have been filed, and 499 have already been resolved through District Dispute Resolution Committees (DRCs).

The Chief Minister has mandated full enforcement of Ordinance 2025 and instructed all DCs to convene DRC meetings daily. She will personally oversee the campaign to ensure its effectiveness.

To keep citizens informed about the government’s immediate crackdown on land grabbing, announcements will also be made in mosques across the province.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the goal is to deliver quick and meaningful relief to the public by ensuring that disputes over illegally occupied properties are addressed without delay.
