CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s AI-Generated Statue Goes Viral

A video going viral on social media claiming to show a massive statue of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz being built in Lahore is fake and created using artificial intelligence (AI). Multiple image forensics tools have confirmed that the viral clip is AI-generated.

On November 25, a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted an eight-second video that appeared to show a towering statue of Maryam Nawaz at a busy intersection in Lahore.

The caption read: “The magnificent statue of the Punjab Chief Minister is nearing completion.” Similar clips have also gone viral on TikTok across several accounts.

The circulating video does not show any real construction project. It was produced using publicly available AI tools and does not depict an actual statue of the chief minister.

According to Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection platform, the video has an overall score of 99.9%, indicating that it is either AI-generated or contains deepfake elements.

Another digital forensics tool, Attestiv, assigned the clip a tamper score of 100, confirming that it is not an authentic recording.

Punjab’s Information Minister Uzma Zahid Bokhari also clarified to Geo Fact Check that the video is “fake” and “AI-generated.”
