Nishat Motors to Launch New Hybrid Vehicle in Pakistan

Nishat Motors is preparing to introduce the JAECOO J5 in Pakistan, expanding its lineup after launching three new models earlier this year. The company entered the market in August with two electric SUVs, the JAECOO J6 and OMODA E5, followed by the locally assembled JAECOO J7 PHEV in October.

The J5 is expected to join the range as another locally assembled model. According to available information, the J5 will use a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine paired with a hybrid powertrain. The crossover is expected to compete directly with the Haval Jolion HEV once it arrives.

Although the hybrid J5 has not launched internationally, global plans for a 2026 rollout in South Africa suggest Pakistan may be among the first markets to receive the HEV version.

To understand what Pakistan may get, the international 1.5 liter turbo model provides a reference point. Its key highlights include a length of 4380 mm, a width of 1860 mm, a height of 1650 mm, and a 2620 mm wheelbase. It produces 156 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque and comes with 18 inch wheels.

Important safety features include six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, a 540 degree camera system, and TPMS. Convenience features on the global model include leather seating, electric front seats, a moonroof, a power tailgate, dual zone climate control, and a 13.2 inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Because Nishat Motors has consistently used competitive pricing for its launches, industry observers expect the company to adopt a similar strategy for the J5. However, the final price will determine how the J5 performs in Pakistan’s growing hybrid crossover segment.
