Punjab Announces Smart Syllabus for Another Class

The Punjab Examination Commission for Textbook and Curriculum Authority (PECTA) has released the 8th Class Smart Syllabus, offering major relief to students, parents, and teachers across the province.

Under the new plan, extra content has been removed from all major subjects. In English, four units, 2, 3, 8 and 9, have been taken out. In Urdu, six chapters have been deleted from the 20-chapter book.

For Mathematics and General Science, several complete topics and exercises have also been removed to reduce the overall workload for students.

The revised plan also features updated pairing schemes and newly issued model papers for all subjects.

According to the notification, each subject exam will carry 100 marks, including 40 marks for MCQs and 60 marks for long questions. This structure will apply to both the Mid-Term and Final-Term assessments.

The 8th Class Smart Syllabus was released shortly after the updated versions for Classes 9 and 11, completing the province-wide effort to simplify studies. Officials said the changes remove extra material and make exam preparation easier and more organised.

Education experts believe this step will benefit thousands of students by reducing pressure and helping improve learning outcomes across Punjab.
