The Punjab Transport Company has rolled out 15 electric buses in Chakwal as part of the province’s clean and modern transport expansion. The service formally launched on December 3 and now operates on three routes linking key points across the district.
According to the announcement, the new electric buses are running between the District Complex and Dhudial, Tehsil Chowk and Balkasar, and Tehsil Chowk and Mohal Mughlan.
Officials described the initiative as a step toward providing a noise-free and smog-free commute for residents. The electric buses feature onboard comforts such as air conditioning, digital displays, and accessibility features.
The service also supports Punjab’s broader push toward zero-emission public transport, which aims to reduce air pollution and improve mobility in urban and rural areas.
The rollout in Chakwal follows the provincial government’s ongoing effort to expand electric bus operations across Punjab. Authorities say the new routes will help residents access safer and more reliable transportation while contributing to environmental sustainability.
