Australian pace ace Mitchell Starc has surpassed Pakistan great Wasim Akram to climb higher on the list of the most successful bowlers in Test cricket history.
The left-arm fast bowler reached the milestone during Australia’s ongoing Ashes Test against England at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Starc made an explosive start to the second Test, removing Ben Duckett in the opening over. Moments later, he bowled a superb delivery to dismiss Ollie Pope, drawing level with Akram’s career tally of 414 Test wickets.
Although Joe Root and Harry Brook steadied England with a strong partnership, Starc returned in the second session to break the stand. He dismissed Brook in the first over of his new spell, moving past Akram and becoming the most successful left-arm fast bowler in Test cricket history.
