Karachi continued to experience unusually cold weather on Wednesday as strong, chilly winds swept across the city, pulling temperatures below 9°C in some areas.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that more cold days lie ahead, with temperatures expected to drop further to around 10°C.
According to PMD data, the lowest temperature in the city was recorded at Jinnah Terminal at 8.9°C. Bin Qasim reported 12.1°C, the Old Airport station logged 12.5°C, while Shahrae Faisal and the Maripur Air Force weather station recorded a minimum of 13.5°C.
The Early Warning Centre said northeastern winds blowing from Balochistan may lower Karachi’s temperature by another one to two degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, the city saw a minimum of 8.9°C and a maximum of 28.4°C, with wind speeds reaching up to 25km per hour.
In rural Sindh, the cold was even more severe. Mohenjo-daro reported the lowest temperature in the province at just 3.8°C, reflecting the intensity of the cold wave sweeping the region.
Authorities have advised residents to take precautions as the chilly weather is expected to continue.
