Two men were injured on Wednesday when a speeding, unlicensed Vigo driver rammed into a motorcycle at Serena Chowk in Islamabad.
According to officials, the crash occurred when the Vigo driver abruptly changed lanes and struck the motorcycle, throwing both riders onto the road.
Rescue teams reached the site promptly, provided first aid, and shifted the injured to PIMS Hospital, where they remain under treatment.
Police arrived shortly after the incident, taking the driver and vehicle into custody.
During the inspection, officers recovered a weapon from the Vigo, while the driver failed to produce a driving licence or identification documents. The vehicle has been impounded, and further legal action is underway.
A police official said the case is being investigated from multiple angles. Evidence has been collected, and witness statements are being recorded.
Hospital staff confirmed that both injured men are under medical observation.
The incident also sparked concerns among citizens.
Tahir Azad, a government employee who crosses Serena Chowk daily, questioned inconsistent enforcement: “Motorcyclists are frequently stopped for licence checks, but large vehicles often go unchecked.”
Another resident, Syed Wajeeh-ul-Hassan, said the recovery of a weapon from the vehicle was worrying. “Islamabad Police are running an effective campaign against illegal arms, but a weapon appearing on such an important route is alarming.”
Ahmad, another government employee at the scene, said unlicensed drivers were becoming a major cause of road accidents.
He pointed to a recent case in which two women were killed by a V8 driver who also lacked a licence.
He added that he hoped Islamabad Traffic Police Chief Traffic Officer Humayun, widely praised for his performance, would take notice and continue strict enforcement against unlicensed drivers.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and assured that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.

It would be the same old story in this case too. The guy driving the Vigo would certainly be related to some influential person, like some politician, civil bureaucrat, police officer, defense Forces officer, senior doctor, lawyer or perhaps a businessman or any other well connected person. They would initially try to manipulate police failing which will persuade the wounded motorcyclists to compromise by accepting some cash. I am 99% sure by this time the culprit would be sitting with buddies at a joint laughingly boasting about his family’s connections and money frequently throwing in the eff expression. One can easily predict the norms and charms of the Pakistani system, Culture and the values in Vogue.
