Deadline Announced for Students to Get Motorcycle Licenses

Multan’s top police officials instructed school and college students on Thursday to obtain motorcycle licenses and helmets within one week.

City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Dogar and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Kashif Aslam issued the directive during a joint press conference following Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s order prohibiting the arrest of underage students for traffic violations.

CPO Sadiq Dogar announced that the police have launched an awareness campaign to help students avoid violations under the revised traffic rules. He said the department has extended operating hours at traffic centers to allow applicants to obtain licenses late into the evening.

He added that the police want students to meet the new requirements without facing unnecessary difficulty. CTO Kashif Aslam stated that the government has recently amended traffic laws and increased penalties for violations.

He urged citizens to follow the rules strictly to avoid fines and legal issues. He said the campaign aims to guide young riders toward safer behavior on the road.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz earlier barred police from arresting minors for traffic offenses after videos showed young students being handcuffed. She expressed strong displeasure over the treatment of children and urged parents to play a responsible role in teaching traffic discipline.
