Google’s annual search report for 2025 reveals that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) remains one of the most-searched sporting events in India.
The data highlights India’s wide-ranging interests across tech, sports, and culture. Yet, despite persistent political tensions, the May border flare-up, and a wave of anti-Pakistan sentiment, including restrictions on Pakistani celebrities, content, and even handshakes with Pakistani athletes, Indian users continued to track PSL updates online.
Even though broadcasters in India were barred from showing PSL X, searches for match scores and results surged throughout the season. The league maintained its position among India’s top sports-related queries, months before the start of PSL 11.
PSL is scheduled to return in April next year with the addition of two new teams, further boosting excitement. Meanwhile, several big players like Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali have already announced their plans to join PSL over IPL this season.
Also, the PSL trophy will embark on a promotional tour across the UK and the US as global interest and foreign investment opportunities grow.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is also pushing the league’s international presence through major promotional events overseas. A PSL Roadshow will be held in the United States as part of the league’s expansion strategy.
This follows preparations for a landmark showcase at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, where the PSL will bring together investors, commercial partners, and cricket fans to highlight the league’s growth, commercial strength, and long-term plans.
The expansion, including the addition of two new franchises, has already attracted strong interest from potential buyers. Through its roadshows, the PCB aims to give global investors an inside look at the league’s business model and its vision for the next phase of development.
