Govt Introduces New Fingerprint Verification System for Passports

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, working with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), has introduced a new fingerprint confirmation system for applicants seeking new passports.

The new process allows applicants to verify their fingerprints through the NADRA Pak-ID mobile app at any time and from any location. If a user faces difficulty during fingerprint confirmation, the app provides a facial recognition option as an alternative.

Applicants must visit the online passport web portal to begin their application. When they reach the fingerprint stage, they must log in to the Pak-ID mobile app.

After accessing the biometric verification section, users must select “Online Passport” and then enter their passport tracking ID and Identity Card number. The app will then guide them through fingerprint and facial recognition steps.

Once the biometric confirmation is complete, the system issues a message and directs the applicant back to the web portal. Applicants must then complete the remaining steps and submit their passport application online.
