The Punjab government has decided to launch a strict crackdown against violations of the one-dish rule and the unnecessary use of loudspeakers across Lahore and the rest of the province.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure strict enforcement of the one-dish ban at all events.
The Punjab government has also ordered action against the use of loud, high-volume music at weddings and other gatherings.
Instructions have been issued to register cases over the illegal use of loudspeakers at qawwali nights and other events.
Additionally, authorities have been directed to take practical steps to curb the illegal use of loudspeakers at farmhouses and open grounds.
The government has made it clear that the one-dish restriction will not apply only to marriage halls, but will also be strictly enforced at farmhouses and grounds.
The provincial government has further directed that the official closing timings for marriage halls be strictly followed, and has decided to monitor compliance accordingly.
