Ahead of Basant, the Punjab Home Department has initiated the formal registration of kite and string manufacturers, sellers, and kite-flying associations to ensure safe and regulated kite-flying activities.
According to the Home Department, detailed procedures have been prepared for kite and string makers, shopkeepers, and buyers, while the registration mechanism for kite-flying associations has also been finalized.
Form “A” has been declared mandatory for registration, and registered individuals will be issued an official certificate through Form “B.”
Similarly, Form “C” and Form “D” have been designated for kite-flying associations.
The Home Department stated that the size, material, and quality of kites and strings will be strictly enforced as per Schedule One.
The production and sale of substandard or chemical-coated string is completely prohibited.
Registered associations will assist district administrations in making arrangements for Basant under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner to prevent any dangerous or banned activities.
Officials clarified that violations of the regulations will result in cancellation of registration and legal action against the offenders.
The department further stated that the first phase of implementing the code of conduct for a safe and organized Basant has been completed.
