Punjab Launches Major Upgrade Plan for 52 Parks in Rawalpindi

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Rawalpindi has launched a major plan to upgrade 52 parks across the city, with renovation work on four major parks expected to finish next month.

According to PHA Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, the authority has begun surveying all parks to add new facilities and expand horticulture features. He said the upgrade program will prioritize Liaquat Bagh, Allama Iqbal Park, Rawal Park, and Public Park in Dhoke Munshi, where new designs and landscaping plans are now under preparation.

He stated that the remaining parks will also receive improvements, though full renovation will require additional funding from the provincial government. He added that routine maintenance continues through PHA’s own budget.

Ranjha said PHA recently completed beautification work on Murree Road and built new sports courts under the 6th Road and Chandni Chowk flyovers. These courts will remain free for public use on a first-come, first-served basis.

He noted that park visitors have increased during the winter season, and the authority is expanding lighting, seating, and plantation to accommodate demand.

The DG said PHA has also finalized a beautification plan for Murree. Two parks have already been upgraded, and winter flowers and new lighting are being installed along key roads to enhance the city’s appearance and attract more tourists.
