Google Photos Just Released a Free CapCut Rival

Google has introduced a set of new tools aimed at making video creation and editing in Google Photos easier across Android and iOS. Users can generate highlight reels by selecting “highlight video” from the Create tab, choosing photos and clips, and letting the app produce a single cohesive video.

CapCut Rival Features, For Free

Google is rolling out templates on Android to help users start quickly. These templates include preset formats with built-in music, text, and cuts already synced to a soundtrack. After choosing a template and selecting the media, Google Photos automatically generates a shareable video. More templates will be added over time.

This should be ideal for quick posts to social media that don’t require deeper and more sophisticated edits with professional software.

A redesigned editor is now available on both platforms, offering faster performance and easier navigation. It introduces a universal timeline that supports multi-clip editing and storytelling, along with an adaptive canvas for more efficient adjustments.

Users can browse a categorized music library and add soundtracks directly to their highlight videos. This feature is available on both Android and iOS.

Android users can now add custom text overlays to videos. The tool supports multiple fonts, colors, and background options to help personalize clips or add context.

The refreshed editor is now the default video editor on Android. Users can open any video, tap edit, and access tools for trimming, adding music, and applying text to individual clips.

All of these updates are available now or are currently rolling out, giving users expanded options for creating personalized videos within Google Photos.
