The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has intensified enforcement of its immigration regulations to protect the labour market and has introduced a strict zero-tolerance policy against violators.
The UAE government has declared violations of residency laws a crime against national security.
Authorities have warned that sheltering or employing illegal residents can result in fines of up to AED 5 million (PKR 380 million), along with possible imprisonment.
Providing accommodation or jobs to individuals living unlawfully in the UAE will lead to heavy penalties and jail terms.
Working on a visit visa has also been declared a criminal offence, carrying a fine of more than AED 10,000 (PKR 760,000).
Meanwhile, using fake residency documents can lead to imprisonment of up to 10 years.
It is worth noting that hundreds of thousands of Pakistani citizens reside in the UAE for employment and other purposes.
