Fizza Fiaz’s unbeaten half-century lead Pakistan to a six-wicket win over Bangladesh in the fourth U19 Women’s T20 of the five-match series at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan captain Eman Naseer’s decision to bowl first paid off as her side restricted Bangladesh to 126/7 in 20 overs.
Achena Jannat anchored the Bangladesh innings with a top score of 35 off 34 balls, hitting four fours. Mymuna Naher added an unbeaten 24, while openers Sumaiya Akther (20) and Sadiya Nusrat (12) were the only others to reach double figures against a disciplined Pakistan bowling attack.
Rozina Akram and Memoona Khalid claimed two wickets each, with Shahar Bano taking one.
Chasing 127, Pakistan reached the target with four wickets in hand and 13 balls to spare. Middle-order batter Fizza led the way with an unbeaten half-century that turned the match in Pakistan’s favour.
Openers Komal Khan and Eman Naseer provided a quick start with a 33-run stand inside three overs before Komal was dismissed for 22 off 11 balls by Habiba Islam.
Pakistan then slipped to 58/4 in 9.4 overs after brief contributions from Ravail Farhan, Zoofishan Ayyaz and Areesha Ansari.
Coming in at No.6, Fizza shifted momentum with an aggressive 50 off 34 ball, earning her the Player of the Match award. She was strongly supported by captain Eman, who held the innings together with an unbeaten 42 off 47 balls, including four fours.
Their 69-run partnership for the fifth wicket sealed the win and levelled the series 2-2. The final match will be played at the same venue on Friday.
