Xiaomi’s Tags to Take On Apple Air Tag But With a Convenient Upgrade

According to a new rumor from China, Xiaomi is working on a tracking device called the Xiaomi Tag. As the name suggests, this device is expected to compete directly with Apple’s AirTag and Motorola’s Moto Tag.

The tracker is expected to work with Google’s Find My Device network. This would allow the Xiaomi Tag to use nearby Android phones to help locate tagged items, making it more easily compatible with a lot more devices than Apple’s AirTags.

The Xiaomi Tag is reportedly going to use Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology, similar to Apple’s AirTag. UWB support is intended to enable precise, short‑range location tracking.

The Xiaomi Tag is said to become official on December 26 in China, launching alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The rumor does not clarify whether the tracker will receive an international release later on, so its availability outside China remains unknown for now.

The Xiaomi Tag is allegedly going to be priced under $25, at least in China. This would position it as a more affordable alternative to existing trackers like Apple’s AirTag and the Moto Tag.

These details are based on rumors and have not been confirmed by Xiaomi.
