Khushab police seized 2,400 kilograms (60 mann) of dead chickens after stopping a suspicious vehicle at the Jaba check post during routine patrolling, ARY News reported.
According to police, the vehicle was stopped during patrolling, and upon search, a large quantity of dead chickens was found loaded inside.
The police shifted the vehicle’s driver to the police station for further investigation.
Police officials stated that the vehicle was heading towards Naushera, and the dead chickens were intended to be supplied as illegal meat to various hotels and fast-food outlets.
Authorities further noted that this is not the first such incident. Similar cases involving large quantities of meat from dead animals have repeatedly surfaced in different parts of the country.
Such meat is often sold by unethical groups to hotels and fast food centres, posing serious health risks to the public.
