In a first-of-its-kind enforcement action, Lahore police arrested a man for attempting to cross the high-speed Lahore Ring Road on foot, 24NewsHD reported on Friday.
The pedestrian, identified as Arsalan, allegedly crossed the Ring Road near the Nawaz Sharif Underpass, disrupting traffic and endangering motorists, according to the FIR.
Ring Road Police detained him and shifted him to the Defence-C police station, where a formal case was registered.
Senior Patrolling Officer Aamir Mehmood, the complainant in the FIR, stated that pedestrian movement on the controlled-access expressway poses serious safety hazards and warrants strict action to prevent accidents.
Officials said the arrest aims to deter future violations on the Lahore Ring Road, an 85-km orbital highway built exclusively for high-speed vehicular traffic.
The multi-lane, signal-free route connects major motorways and highways and is managed by the Punjab Ring Road Authority (PRRA).
Authorities added that the road’s design and traffic volume make pedestrian entry extremely dangerous, and enforcement will remain strict to ensure public safety.
