In response to a surge in street crimes involving motorcycles, Peshawar Police have made registration mandatory for all bike riders and launched a dedicated mobile application to strengthen monitoring and public safety.
CCPO Mian Saeed said the newly introduced Safe Ride app enables riders to digitally register their details, while those unable to access the app can complete the process manually at their nearest police station.
After registration, riders will receive a QR code sticker to place on their motorcycles, allowing authorities to verify their identity quickly.
The CCPO said the system will help deter criminal activity by integrating all registered motorcycles into the Peshawar Police central database.
The initiative follows several snatching and robbery cases involving bike riders; police have already arrested 10 suspects connected to these crimes.
Officials say the new system aims to protect citizens, safeguard legitimate riders’ livelihoods, and equip law enforcement with improved tools to identify and track offenders.
In a related effort, Mansehra Police, acting on directives from DPO Muhammad Azhar Khan, have launched a district-wide registration drive for online bike riders following crimes committed under the guise of ride-hailing services.
Each rider will receive a unique registration number, and their full credentials will be recorded at the relevant police station.
Authorities in both districts have urged citizens to encourage riders to complete mandatory registration to help curb crime and maintain law and order.
